Safeguarding

At Royles Brook Primary School, we are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all our pupils.
We believe that children have the right to feel safe, valued, and respected, and we work tirelessly to ensure a secure, supportive, and nurturing environment.

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and all staff, governors, volunteers, and visitors play an essential role in keeping our pupils safe.

Our Safeguarding Commitment

  • We follow statutory guidance, including Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) and Working Together to Safeguard Children.

  • We maintain robust safeguarding and child protection policies, reviewed annually and available on our website.

  • All staff receive regular safeguarding and child protection training, including recognising signs of abuse, online safety, and safer working practices.

  • We have effective systems in place to identify, report, and monitor any concerns about a child’s welfare.

  • We work closely with parents, carers, and external agencies to provide coordinated support for children and families.

Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs)

Our Safeguarding Team is responsible for overseeing all safeguarding and child protection matters:

  • Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL): Mrs D. Lambert

  • Deputy DSL(s): Mrs J. McKinnon (Head), Miss R. Lea (SENDCO)

  • Safeguarding Governor: Ms C. Williamson

They can be contacted via the school office on 01253 821396 or [email protected].

Safer Recruitment

We follow safer recruitment procedures to ensure all staff and volunteers are suitable to work with children. All appointments are made subject to enhanced DBS checks, identity verification, and reference checks.

Online Safety

We teach pupils how to stay safe online and promote responsible digital behaviour. Our online safety policy outlines how we protect children while using technology in school. Please see the parent online safety guide page within this tab for further support.

Reporting Concerns

If you have any concerns about the safety or welfare of a child, please contact the DSL team immediately.
